Ryan Taylor has built his career around relationships, service, and a genuine interest in helping people succeed. In his work with commercial borrowers at Home Bank, he enjoys getting to know the people he serves and understanding the stories behind their businesses.

“From the commercial side, I really enjoy getting to hear from our borrowers about how they made their idea or dream into a full-time profession,” Ryan said. “It’s especially satisfying to learn their history and how they grew their business.”

That ability to connect with people is something Ryan’s coworkers recognize in him, too.

“Ryan has amazing gifts in connecting with people and building strong relationships,” said Lisa Arnold, President/CEO.

Amy Cole, VP/Loan Operations Manager, also points to Ryan’s positive attitude and willingness to help others, describing his ability to build strong relationships with both customers and coworkers as one of his greatest strengths.

Rooted in Community

Ryan was born and raised in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School in 2008. Sports, especially basketball, were a big part of his life growing up and helped shape his approach to hard work, persistence, teamwork, and community.

“If you have a goal you want to achieve, you better work at it, and work at it consistently,” Ryan said.

His experience with athletics also showed Ryan what community support can look like. He remembers the support his teams received and the opportunities they had to give back through summer camps, fundraising events, and other activities.

“The biggest thing about growing up in Martinsville was that you knew almost everybody in town,” Ryan said. “It always gave me a sense of having a large extended family and to always be willing to help each other out and support one another.”

Those lessons continue to influence Ryan's approach today.

Wade Phelps, VP/Regional President West & Commercial Loan Officer, describes Ryan as someone who is ready to tackle any situation and stays with it until completion. He also recognizes Ryan’s ability to work closely with clients and look for ways to help get their requests approved and closed.

Building Relationships Through Banking

Ryan has continued to invest in professional development throughout his career. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business & Non-Profit Management and graduated from both the IBA Mortgage Lending School and IBA Commercial Lending School. He is also a past recipient of the Morgan County MIBOR Affiliate of the Year and Mooresville Kiwanis Club Member of the Year honors.

While those accomplishments reflect Ryan’s commitment to growth, his coworkers consistently come back to the relationships he builds and the attitude he brings to his work.

“I love working with Ryan Taylor because he brings such a cheerful attitude with him,” said Scott Hines, VP/Regional President East & Commercial Loan Officer.  “Even when things are challenging, he is able to keep a smile on his face.” Lisa Arnold echoed the same sentiment saying, “He ALWAYS has a smile and a warm, calm demeanor.”

Amy describes Ryan as bringing reliability, teamwork, and a strong commitment to getting the job done right.

“He is open, positive, and collaborative in everything that he does,” Lisa said. “Ryan is an excellent professional, committed to providing support, solutions, and stellar service to his clients. He truly exemplifies our values and mission at Home Bank, and I am incredibly proud of him as a member of our team!”

Staying Involved

Ryan’s connection to his community extends beyond his work at Home Bank.

He is a member of the Mooresville Kiwanis Club, serves on the board of the YMCA of Morgan County, and is a commissioner for the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission. He has also stayed connected to athletics by coaching or helping coach several Mooresville Junior League football and basketball teams.

His involvement reflects the values Ryan says were instilled in him growing up in Martinsville, where hard work, teamwork, and supporting the people around you were part of being a community. Those qualities are also evident to the people who work alongside him. Wade highlights the energy and positive attitude Ryan brings to the team. He sees Ryan as a natural fit for Home Bank’s culture and sincere in his commitment to making lives better.

Whether he is learning the story behind a local business, working alongside a teammate, coaching young athletes, or serving a community organization, relationships and service remain at the center of Ryan’s approach.
